Awhile ago in my daily devotional , 1 Cor. 6:17 really spoke to me.  “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord, Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”
Be separate is the key.  Jesus in John 17:17 says, when praying to the Father, “Sanctify or Separate them through your truth, Thy Word is truth.”  We cannot separate ourselves from any destructive habit without replacing it with something else .  We cannot turn away from the things of this world unless we turn to something stronger.   If we give the Word of God first place in our lives, it will continue to separate us from poverty, anxiety and  sickness and hatred and the darkness of our old habits.  Once my son discovered this.  He had a small Bible that he carried around in his pocket.  Every   time he wanted a cigarette and reached in his pocket  he pulled out the Bible instead and turned to premarked verses, such as “I can do all things through Christ,”  “Greater is He that is in me” until the urge went.  He won victory over that habit by the power of the Word.  We need to lock into the Word and let it separate us from the things of the world and move to the things of God.

God’s Medicine

The words I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. -John 6:63
We’ve seen tremendous medical breakthroughs in our generation. We’ve seen “miracle drugs” developed that can conquer many kinds of sickness and disease. But you know, in the 20- plus years I’ve been a believer, I’ve discovered another, much more effective kind of medicine: THE WORD OF GOD. There’s never been a miracle drug that could equal it. God’s medicine is the answer to every need. It is life, it is health, it is the power of God. And if you put it in your heart and act on it, you will be healed.

Sometimes people ask, “if God’s medicine works every time, why are there so many believers still sick?” there are two reasons, 1st because they don’t take the time to plant the word concerning healing deeply into their heart.  And 2nd, because they don’t do what the word tells them to do.

Think of it this way: if a doctor prescribes medicine for you to swallow daily and you rub it on your chest instead, that medicine isn’t going to work for you. You have to follow the instructions and use it properly if you expect to get well, if you read God’s prescription for health and don’t act upon it, you won’t reap any of its benefits.

Proverbs 4:22 says God’s Words are life and health to you. So don’t wait until you get sick to start using them. Start now, begin to put God’s Word in your heart in abundance and it will be hard for you to get sick. That Word within you will constantly be keeping God’s healing power at work in you.

And don’t worry. There’s no limit to the amount of God’s medicine you can take. You can’t get an overdose. The more you take the stronger you get.

Start growing stronger today.

2 Corinthains 4:9   “And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you for my strength is made perfect  in weakness.”   When you run into an impossible situation, one you don’t have the strength or the ability to handle, are you often tempted to throw in the towel and simply give up.  Remember the Word of God says God’s strength is about to be made perfect in you.

Strength or dunamis means God’s miracle working power will come into play when your human strength ends.  Acts 14 shows this promise in action.  The  Apostle Paul was stoned, taken out of the city and left for dead.  His human strength had ended, he was powerless, but the disciples gathered around and prayed and the Lord raised him up and he went on his way.   God’s power enabled him to be an overcomer.  So if you are facing a crisis today---If you are sick and medicine has failed,---   If your family is falling apart, ---If bad habits have you hopelessly bound, ---If you’ve done absolutely all you know to do with no results...Then rejoice!  For when human strength ends, the power of God excels!  Only Believe, God’s Grace is sufficient for you.  To Receive you must Believe.  Believing is trusting in God to honour His Word, which He says He watches over it to accomplish what He said it would do, that He even honours it above His Name.  We need to cut our ties to what the world says and Believe what God’s Word says.

Father’s Day  was founded in Spokane, Wash.  at the YMCA on June 19, 1910 by Sanora Smart Dodd.  Her father was a Civil War Vetern, a single parent who raised 6 children.  She heard a sermon about Jarvis” Mother’s Day at a Methodist Church and told her pastor that fathers should have a holiday honouring them.  When she went away to college it faded away until she returned in 1930 and started promoting it again with the help of N.Y Associated Men’s Wear Council.  It wouldn’t pass congress as it was perceived as another attempt by merchants to commercialize it like Mother’ Day.  Finally in 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson issued a proclamation honouring fathers, designating the third Sunday in June.  Six years later, President Richard Nixon signed it into law.  It was soon adopted into Canada but is not considered a public holiday.

Luke 24:1-3 “Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.  And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.  And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.”  Truly, it’s time to stop looking for the living among the dead.  It’s time to stop walking around in the cemetery of sin, sickness and failure and to step into resurrection life.  The Bible says we have been raised with Christ and seated with Him in heavenly places so we are no accident going somewhere to happen, God has specific plans for us, but we’ll never know what they are until we put our attention on Him, and that’s why the devil works hard to keep us focussing on the problems of life.  That’s why he tries to keep our attention turned away from the living Word of God.  Why?  Because once we truly understand that we have the life of God inside us, we will begin to act just like Jesus did, we’ll be acting like the Body of Christ on earth and this terrifies him.  Don’t let Satan bind you with the grave clothes of yesterday’s sin and defeat.  You’re not dead anymore.  You’ve been raised with Jesus.
