John 10:12 “The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.”
I heard an excellent message from T.D. Jakes that explained how Satan is trying to scatter the church. When Jesus said “The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy,” He wasn’t only talking about our personal lives but also the church body as a whole. There is no strength in isolation. As a body of believers, united in mind, no weapon formed against us can prosper - a cord of 3 strands is not easily broken.
When Jesus was crucified, His disciples were scattered and they thought the ministry was done. Satan thought he had won the victory and scattered the flock. But then Jesus rose from the dead and brought the sheep back into the fold. He gave them a command to go into all the world and preach the gospel to all nations. He confirmed it with signs, wonders and miracles. There is safety in numbers as we pull together for His kingdom. Jesus left the 99 safe in the fold to go after the lone sheep who was in danger on his own. What does Satan use to scatter us - strife, bickering, taking offence, unforgiveness, irritation over personality differences, etc. Anything to cause hard feelings towards one another and squash the move of the Spirit. Satan is making an all out attack on families and churches and a lot of Christians are falling for it. We forget we are not wrestling against flesh and blood but principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in heavenly places. The world is to know we are Christians by our Love.
